Its always nice to get the boat out just as the sun is coming up. There might be a slight fog on the lake. The sun is glowing the sky, but hasn’t made its full appearance yet. The hollow sound of  a boat as it bumps the side of the pier. And the sound of the water as it drains off the trailer, as I park it in its waiting spot, until the time has come that either my arms are too tired from pulling in so many fish, or until the sun makes itself dominant over all species cooking the last of the tough guys who will tolerate just about anything for that old familiar tug.

Tall trees, clean air, early morning frogs mean activity in a full pond or lake. If there’s water, and a slight possibility, most guys I know will hit it. It matters not if its in the city, or in the country, if there is a mud hole and there is a chance a fish is there, step aside, or better yet drop a line. Its such a luxury here in East Texas, we have all kinds of lakes, rivers, and ponds, and areas where fish are running right now as we speak. If you can stand the heat, the fish are hoping all over, the water must be boiling!

On the water with Nate Dean.  Last week it was Nate’s birthday, but here is his report for fishing.

“Well what can I say? It was like one of those nights when you think you have the tournament won, and then at the very end…another team cruises in to steal the glory! Dan and Brandon with 12.14 lbs. Jeff and Jerry weigh in at 12.08 lbs, JD and Cody in at 2.02 lbs. Welcome to all new anglers, no Big Bass at weigh in so the pot rolls over til next week. Thats 3 weeks, as things really begin to heat up fishing-wise, and we’ve started to have a cool wind on top of the water at nights, yall come on out and fish with us!” Each Saturday Night, come fish with us at the working man’s tournament.  Thanks for the info Nate, and happy birthday to you. last week! Yall keep having fun out there on Lake Hawkins!
