National Life Chain Sunday 2017 will conduct the 30th annual prayer witness on “village” sidewalks throughout America and Canada. Our witness, Lord willing, will again change hearts, save lives, and further unveil the grievous curse of legal child killing in our two nations. The duty of ending the killing rests foremost with the church Christ founded and that is now entrusted to us.

On Sunday, October 1st (2-3pm), people from Big Sandy and the surrounding areas are invited participate in the 30th Annual Life Chain Event. This will be one hour of prayerful witness to protect the unborn. The event brings awareness of the pro-life position to people throughout East Texas. This is just one hour of your time. Signs will be provided and those who cannot stand may bring chairs. The event is not a march or demonstration, just a peaceful, public witness in support of the unborn and to raise awareness that abortion is wrong. Everyone is encouraged to attend…youth, babies with parents, and seniors. We will meet at the New Beginnings parking lot at 1:45 pm.

LIFE CHAIN, while only a step, is a bold step. It is prayerful, peaceful, and adheres to a sturdy Code of Conduct. During the Life Chain hour, idle chatter, frivolity, and both verbal and physical responses to motorists are strongly discouraged. LIFE CHAIN is a time for prayerful self-analysis, repentance, and serious commitment to helping end abortion in our nation. Founded in 1987, “Please Let Me Live,” is a small pro-life ministry based 45 miles north of Sacramento, CA. They built America’s first Chain through their small sister towns, Yuba City and Marysville. They called LIFE CHAIN “a serious first step to pro-life activism.” In a statement from the website, the organizers state, “It is a serious step in that it requires us to stand publicly for one hour, while holding a pro-life sign and praying through the prayer topics on the back of our sign. That brief experience has led thousands of Christians across North America to join local pro-life groups and work as volunteers throughout the year. The 2016 Chains brought the ministry’s total for America and Canada to about 25,000 Chains since 1987. We thank God for that blessing and for His protection of millions of participants through the years.”(Information obtained from the organization’s website – nationallifechain.org.)

Human efforts will not end abortion; we must have God’s divine help. Proverbs 24:11-12 tells us “Rescue those being led away to death; hold back those staggering toward slaughter. If you say ‘But we knew nothing about this’ does not He who weighs the heart perceive it? Does not He who guards your life know it? Will He not repay each person according to what he has done.”
