Anytime you visit Big Sandy’s Agape House, chances are you will see Maggie Blood. She has served as a volunteer since 2007. Ever faithful and always cheerful, she has a ready smile and a prayer for all in need. New Beginnings Pastor Jerome Ellard and wife, Helen, presented Miss Maggie with the “New Beginnings Award for Christian Service to the Community” during Tuesday’s “Honor Our Heroes” supper, praising her work at the Agape House.

Miss Maggie, mother of four children, eleven grandchildren, and a great-grandmother, has lived in Big Sandy since January 1961. She is a member of New Beginnings Christian Fellowship (CGI), former employee of Woodvale school, and a caregiver to many children and adults in our community. Miss Maggie says, “I have always wanted to be a missionary and I feel I’m able to do so right here in Big Sandy through the Agape House Ministry.”

Next time you visit the Agape House, look for Miss Maggie and we’re sure she’ll have a smile and a prayer for you!
