During their annual meeting, the Big Sandy Area Lions Club installed five new members and were honored to have Zone 5 Chair (and Immediate Past President of this club) Lion Gerri Thompson conduct the installation. One new member, Mike Ruesch, was unable to attend because of work – he owns Uncle Mike’s Italian Café – so the Lions took the meeting to him at his restaurant and inducted him into the club. New members are Lion Jastin Baker, Lion Natasha Spates, Lion Kevin Lynch, Lion Sherrie Lynch, and Lion Mike Ruesch. Thank you for your willingness to serve. Thanks to  President-elect, Lion Lois Triebenbach, for providing the wonderful meal.

During the June Big Sandy City Council meeting, President Rickey Caughron presented a check for $200 from the Lions Club. These funds will be used to purchase the first bench for the proposed “Walk of Remembrance” planned for Wildcat Drive.

Presentation of check by Lions Rickey Caughron, Debra Caughron, Lois Triebenback, Jastin Baker, Derrick Menefee, and Mayor Sonny Parsons.

The Big Sandy Area Lions Club certainly lives up to their motto: “We Serve.” If you are interested in joining the Big Sandy Area Lions Club, contact President Rickey Caughron at 903-918-9393. And remember,“Where There Is a Need…There Is a Lion.”
