The Big Sandy Area Lions Club joined with the other Lions Clubs of District 2-X2 (Northeast Texas) on April 20th and 21st, 2018 to celebrate the ending of the 100th year of Lions serving the communities they represent. The District Convention was held at the Hampton Inn and Suites in Longview, TX, and was also a celebration of the 90th anniversary of the Longview Club.

The local Big Sandy Area Club was represented by Club President Rickey Caughron, Vice President Lois Triebenbach, Secretary Debra Caughron, Tail Twister Texanna Greene, Incoming Vice President Derrick Menefee, and Incoming Director Liz Elkins. During the conventions, invocations were led by Club President Rickey Caughron, who also serves as the District Chaplain. One of the break-out training sessions on the new MyLion mobile app was conducted by Incoming Vice President Derrick Menefee.

At the closing banquet Saturday night, Past International Director Brian Sheehan and District Governor Paul Boggs presented the International President’s Certificate of Appreciation (the 4th highest award in Lions Clubs International) to President Caughron for his work as District Chaplain and filling in as Cabinet Secretary.
