Wildcat to Wildcat: Rickey Caughron serves Coach Andre Thompson as George Strub supervises. Both Rickey and Andre played for the Wildcats...several years ago!

Big Sandy faculty, staff, and administrators certainly felt the love last week as several organizations game together, preparing lunch for everyone. On Thursday, the Big Sandy Chamber of Commerce and Rotary Club of Big Sandy sponsored the Annual Teacher/Staff Lunch. Churches from the Ministerial Alliance (New Beginnings Christian Fellowship and Sit’em Down Cowboy Church) provided desserts and members of the Big Sandy Area Lions Club and retired teachers Linda Avey and Pat Lavender worked hard with setup, serving, and clean up. Paper products were provided by the Love Big Sandy Project.

Waiting for lunch, Assistant Elementary Principal Andrea Blavier and 5th grade teacher, Buffy Vestal, are very happy!

Maci Childress and door prizes donated by local businesses and individuals.

BSHS Junior Maci Childress has inherited the “servant’s heart” from her grandmother, Lynda Childress. Maci worked hard accumulating door prizes from many generous area businesses and individuals, earning a great deal of gratitude from all the teachers and staff. Thanks, Maci! Austin Bank and New Beginnings Christian Fellowship donated a mountain of school supplies. Miss Joan and her cafeteria staff allowed us to invade their domain, plus they whipped up some pretty tasty sweet tea for the event. Thanks also to Wayne Weese and his crew for table set up and to Michael Baggett who ran countless errands.

On Friday, the good folks from New Hope Baptist continued to bless our teachers, staff, and administrators with a baked potato and salad bar with all the trimmings. New Hope representative, Lori Acker, says, “Our VBS mission offering ($554.80) was used to buy school supplies.”

Thanks to all who helped with these events. Our school is such a huge part of our community and this is just a small “Thank you!” to everyone who works to educate, protect, and love our kids. Our prayer is that this year is productive and safe. GO WILDCATS!
