The District 16AA Junior High School One Act Play contest was conducted at the Union Grove High School Performance Arts Center. The district play competition included: Big Sandy, Carlisle, Harleton, Hawkins and Union Grove. The contest is one of the academic University Scholastic League (UIL) events that challenges young students to excel not only at acting, but knowledge of stage lighting and sound.  Union Grove placed first with The Girl in the White Pinafore.

Contest Runner-up, Big Sandy performed These Shining Lives and won several honors. Shelby Shears was selected as the district’s Best Actress for her performance. All Star cast members included Jermiah Gonzalez and Luke Ratcliff. Honorable Mention Ensemble All Star cast included Emma Jewell, Jayci Pyle and Becca Marsh. Technical honors went to Elizabeth Sharp and Kristin Mosely. Harleton Junior High School placed third. The play was under the direction of Tim Bearden and assistant director, Terri Jackson.
