Alan Howarth, noted film score composer and sound design expert from Los Angeles, is coming to the Big Sandy Music Hall October 29th to perform live to clips of his legendary films from Halloween to Poltergeist, to Raiders of the Lost Ark and Star Trek.
Alan Howarth, noted film score composer and sound design expert from Los Angeles, is coming to Big Sandy October 29th to perform live to clips of his legendary films. Howarth is credited with having designed what tension and fear sounds like in movies today.
From scores to special sound effects, from Halloween to Star Trek, Alan Howarth’s electronic imagination has contributed to some of the biggest genre films of the 80’s. Alternatively wearing hats of both composer and sound effects man, Howarth has collaborated with John Carpenter on the music from nearly all of his movies starting with Escape from New York; He has provided sound design and effects for Poltergeist, Raiders of the Lost Ark, all the Star Trek movies, The Hunt for Red October, Coppola’s Dracula, Total Recall and Stargate, among others. As a composer, he’s scored all of part of the Halloween films, composed music for Retribution, The Dentist, and many more.
In addition, Howarth plans a “Scream Test” for participating audience members to be able to scream for a chance to be featured in his next horror movie sound track.
The event is scheduled for 7:30 pm on October 29th, the Saturday before Halloween at the Big Sandy Music Hall. Tickets are on sale at bigsandymusichall.com and VIP Dinner & Show tickets are available for those who would like to visit with Howarth over a meal before the show. VIP Dinner is at 6:30 pm and tickets are $35. General Admission Showtime is 7:30 pm and those tickets are $15. Doors open 15 minutes prior to showtime.
