Jay Ratcliff is still amazed. In an effort to amuse his staff and students, he sat on a chair in the snow, singing a very clever rewrite (thank you, Honey) of a favorite Alabama tune, letting everyone know there would be no school because of icy roads. The video was posted to the Big Sandy ISD Facebook page and it immediately went viral! After appearing on CBS 19 evening news, Jay was contacted by Texas Coffee and Donut Festival organizer Gloria Washington and asked to perform.

That brings us to this past Saturday when Mr. Ratcliff and the Big Sandy Elementary Chorale opened the festivities on the Square in downtown Tyler. The chorale was great…musically and as representatives of our school. Parents and teachers of these young people are to be commended. They were very poised during their performance and afterward very respectful, listening while Mr. Ratcliff and his daughter, Madi, sang. Thank you, Mr. Ratcliff, Madi Ratcliff, and members of the Big Sandy Elementary Chorale. We are so proud of you!
