GILMER–U.S. Sen. Ted Cruz’s father and cousin will bring the senator’s re-election campaign here Thursday (July 19) with a noontime stop in the “Texas Cruzer” at the La Finca Mexican Restaurant, 200 Warren Avenue.
The senator’s father, Pastor Rafael Cruz, will join Bibi Marino in the recreational vehicle which was professionally painted for the senator’s campaign. It came to Gilmer in October 2017 for an event with the conservative organization, East Texans for Liberty.
Sen. Cruz’s supporters are invited to lunch with Rafael Cruz and Marino, who will have campaign signs and shirts for supporters.
Ted Cruz is seeking a second six-year term in the November general election against Democrat Richard (Beto) O’Rourke.
Cruz was Texas’ longest-serving solicitor general before his election in 2012. He unsuccessfully sought the Republican nomination for President in 2016.
