GILMER–East Texans for Liberty will host a “Dinner With the Runoff Candidates” fundraiser April 11 at the Disabled American Veterans headquarters on U.S. 271 in Gilmer.
Candidates in the May 24 Republican runoffs for six state or Upshur County offices have been invited to the event, scheduled for 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m., said ET4L President Stacy McMahan.
Those who had confirmed as of Monday they will attend included Gary Gates, candidate for the Texas Railroad Commission, and either his opponent, Wayne Christian, or a representative of his; State Reps. Bryan Hughes and David Simpson, both running for the Texas Senate District One Seat; Cole Hefner, candidate for Texas House District Five; Mary Lou Bruner, running for the State Board of Education Place Nine; Larry Webb, candidate for Upshur County sheriff; and Mary Anne Farrow, running for county tax assessor-collector.
Seating is limited, and a $10 donation is “appreciated” for a meal of spaghetti, meatballs, a salad and dessert, said McMahan. A silent auction is also planned.
Those planning to attend are asked to make reservations by clicking on the Eventbrite link on East Texans for Liberty’s Facebook page or the group’s website, or by calling 903-500-2292, McMahan said.
