Early this morning (4AM) Troopers responded to a fatal crash westbound on IH-20, near the 601 mile marker, involving five truck tractor semi-trailers. Preliminary reports indicate that four trucks with towed trailers were stopped westbound on IH-20 for a crash that had previously occurred. The driver of a fifth truck tractor with towed semi-trailer, failed to see the slowed/stopped traffic ahead and ran into the vehicles. The driver and passenger in the fifth truck were pronounced dead at the scene by Judge Smith. The crash remains under investigation and the roadway is currently closed westbound with traffic being rerouted near the 604 mile marker. Motorist are urged to use caution in this area and expect delays. Opening of the roadway is anticipated within the next three hours. More information will be released as it becomes available.
