GILMER–The Upshur County office of Texas A&M AgriLife Extension will offer a March 22 “food handlers class,” which is now state-required for all food service employees to help promote serving safe food.
The 2-hour program, accredited by the Texas Department of State Health Services, is scheduled from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at the extension office, now located in the county Rock Building at 301 E. Butler. Julie York, extension agent for family and consumer sciences, will be instructor.
Cost is $20. Checks should be made out to “AgriLife Extension–Acct. #230202.”
“The class is a basic overview of food safety practices that are necessary to ensure you serve safe food at your establishment,” says a flyer promoting the event. “Some practices discussed are good personal hygiene, cross-contamination, time and temperature abuse.”
