GILMER–The Upshur County Texas Extension Education Association invites the public to a “hands-on cultural arts educational program” June 21.
The event will feature an educational program entitled “Nurturing the Creative You,” designed to “release your inner artist,” according to a flyer promoting the workshop. It will also include an activity involving making bookmarks which are jeweled with string, and stringing jewelry to add to a purse or key charms.
Dues-paying TEEA members can compete in cultural arts exhibits. Cost to attend the program, scheduled from 10:15 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Etex Communications conference room on Texas 155 north in Gilmer, is $5.
Attendees should bring a covered dish. Drinks will be provided for the potluck lunch.
Anyone under age 18 must be accompanied by an adult.
TEEA members should check in their cultural arts exhibits between 9 a.m. and 10 a.m. at the back room by the rest rooms. Rene’ Davis will welcome guests at 10:15, followed by the educational program at 10:30 and lunch from 11:30 a.m. to noon.
The hands-on activity is scheduled from noon to 2 p.m. Exhibits will be released to TEEA members from 2 p.m. to 2:30 p.m.
Attendees must pre-register. Forms are available at the Upshur County office of the Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service at 101 E. Cass in Gilmer.
The $5 cost, payable by cash or check, is due by Monday, June 13, and checks should be made out to the Upshur Extension Education Association. If the extension office is closed, payments may be dropped in the mail slot.
