HARMONY  –  The Harmony Eagles baseball team locked up the District 15-AAA crown last week with back-to-back victories over Arp and Winona on Tuesday and Thursday nights at Eagle Park.

Harmony now owns a 20-4 season record, and the Eagles are 10-0 in district play.   Harmony has a two game lead on the Troup Tigers with two games remaining in conference competition.  The Eagles have already defeated Troup twice in their district games.

On Tuesday night, the game against Arp was moved to Harmony due to wet grounds at Arp.    The Eagles were not kind hosts as they 10-runned the Tigers with a 13-1 rout.     On Thursday evening, the Eagles demolished the Winona Wildcats, 25-0.

Against Winona, Harmony scored 8 runs in their first at-bat.   Easton Blackstone, Collin Jones, and J.P. Powers each had 2-run singles to highlight the Eagle first.    After failing to score in the second and third innings,  the Eagles sent twenty-one batters to the plate and scored seventeen of them in a marathon fourth inning.

Harmony’s bats exploded for 5 doubles in the fourth inning including consecutive two-baggers by Spencer Seahorn and Caleb Hart.

Jones led the Eagle offense with 5 RBIs in officially going 2-for-2 plus a walk and being hit by a pitch.    Blackstone was 4-for-5 with 4 RBIs.    Powers was 2-for-5 with 4 RBIs against Winona.

Blackstone went the distance on the mound for the victorious Eagles.    He tossed a one-hit, shutout.   After stranding Wildcat runners on second and third in the first inning, Blackstone faced the minimum 12 batters in the final four frames.   He struck out 8 Wildcats including all three batters he faced in Winona’s last at-bat.

Against Arp on Tuesday, Seahorn had 5 RBIs with two doubles.   Drew McNeel had three hits against the Tigers while teammates J.P. Powers and Nick Hoelscher had two hits each.     Hoelscher was the starter and winning pitcher for Harmony.

Harmony’s next game is scheduled for Friday, April 21, when the Eagles host Cumberland Academy in a 6:00 P.M. game at Eagle Park.
