On February 11, 2018 Troopers responded to a three vehicle fatal crash on US-175 in Henderson County, five miles southeast of the city of Athens.  Preliminary crash investigation revealed that the driver of a 2004 Honda Accord, identified as Ingrid Munoz Perdomo, 24, of Jacksonville was traveling northwest on US-175 when she lost control of her vehicle due to icy road conditions, crossed the center stripe and into the path of an 2004 Peterbilt truck-tractor towing a semi-trailer driven by David Roberts, 62, of Larue.  The collision caused the Honda to travel back into the westbound lane where it collided with a 2012 Nissan Juke driven by Lynn Lou Ann Shepherd, 43, of Sanger.

Perdomo was pronounced dead at the scene by Judge Randy Daniels, her body was taken to Caroll and Lehr Funeral Home in Athens.  A passenger, identified as Brandon Munoz, 3, of Jacksonville was transported to ETMC-Athens where he was later pronounced dead by Dr. Bywaters.  His body was also taken to Caroll and Lehr Funeral Home in Athens.  Another passenger, a 2 year-old female, was transported to ETMC-Athens in stable condition.

Roberts was not injured in the crash.

Shepherd was transported to ETMC-Athens where she was treated and released.  Two juvenile passengers in her vehicle, females age 9 and 11 years-old, where also transported to ETMC-Athens where they were treated and released.
