According to a release by Texas State Troopers, at approximately 8:40 AM, Troopers responded to a two vehicle fatal crash on FM-317, 5 miles northeast of the city of Chandler in Henderson County. Preliminary crash investigators indicate that a 2006 Harley Davidson Road King, ridden by Kerry Wayland Hicks, 51, of Lindale was traveling westbound on FM-317 approaching a sweeping curve to the right. At the same time, a 2012 Ford F-150 driven by KC Scott Allen, 30, of Itasca was traveling eastbound approaching the curve from the opposite direction. Hicks failed to negotiate the curve, crossed the center stripe and entered the eastbound lane just ahead of Allen. Allen took evasive action to the right but was struck by the motorcycle in its left front. Hicks, who was not wearing a helmet, was thrown from the motorcycle, coming to rest in the roadway. He was pronounced at the scene by Judge Tony Duncan, he was taken to Chandler Funeral Home.
Allen was not injured. The investigation is ongoing and no further information is available at this time.
