The weather cooperated this time and Pritchett’s famous “Music and a Slice of Pie” was a great success. Music this year was provided by the Bethlehem Bluegrass Band from Longview. These folks – Jim Johnson, Sheila Small, Fred Gebhardt, Phil Rispin, Brian Dearborn, and Dirk Coleman – really had everyone in a great mood and feeling truly blessed with their beautiful tributes to God.
And the ‘pie’…mmmmm. Not just one or two kinds of pie, but a sea of pies, and one particularly great pecan pie! The ladies (and maybe a gentleman or two) of Pritchett really know their way around a kitchen. This reporter has never attended an event in Pritchett and not been impressed with the food, fun, and fellowship offered by these sweet people.
In addition to the music and pie, the Pritchett Quilters had made a special quilt as part of the fund raising efforts. Winner of this beautiful creation was Ellen Johnson. Other door prizes were won by Ann Kuhn and Brenda Johnson.
This fun evening had a purpose – to raise money for the Pritchett Community Center. The Center is home to the Quilters and serves as a venue for many other community activities. Fund raisers help – as the lovely and talented Porter Click explained – keep the lights on and pay the insurance! If you missed this one, be sure to check out the next event…you’ll love it!
