Saturday morning at the Dogwood Classic Bible Roping Pastor Chad Lee shared his testimony. Many throughout East Texas have heard Chad tell of being a drug addict, a thief, a liar, and how God saved him. It doesn’t matter if it’s the first time you’ve heard his story or the hundredth time, it is powerful and will shake you to your core.

For fourteen years, Chad said he had been on dope and every day he got out of bed, he was searching for something he couldn’t find. Then came the day he was caught on video stealing from his dad. His dad kept the tape for two weeks until he could find Chad. He didn’t want him to go to jail but he wanted him to get off the dope. Chad says when he finally called, his dad told him he would be arrested Monday morning and booked in to jail, but he would drop the charges and get him into rehab. That rehab was for eighteen months.

Everyone started calling and the preacher got hold of him. Chad said the preacher asked him about his favorite scripture and Chad told him he didn’t know what a scripture was. Chad started telling this preacher his story and on November 29, 2010 Chad accepted the Lord and was baptized. He said there was no doubt in his mind he was saved and the instant he came out of the water he was delivered from the dope.

Chad stayed with his grandmother for a while then with his aunt and uncle and they studied the Bible every day. Not because he had to, but because he wanted to. Now Chad warns that if the Holy Spirit doesn’t convict your heart, wait. It has to be of the Spirit. Some folks come, get saved but walk away and don’t know what happened. Let the Spirit draw you.

But Chad still had to go to rehab. When he got there, his uncle gave him a book about praying and told him that anything he prayed for, believe it and it will happen. When he was in his room, on his knees, he prayed, “God, if You have this handled, I believe someone will come back and get me today.” Later on that day, he tried to call his uncle, but they made him wait. When he finally was allowed a call, he couldn’t find his uncle so he called his aunt. She told him his mother was on her way to get him now!

Chad stayed with his aunt and uncle for seventeen months. He made his way to Davis Ranch in Big Sandy, and with God’s help, got a job and a place to live. He also discovered all he wanted to do was to preach the Word of God. He wanted to help people understand it was simple…Jesus Christ walked on this earth and died for us. No matter how bad someone is, what they’ve done God is for us. We just have to ask.

He wanted to preach and Sit’em Down Cowboy Church was started in this arena. Chad said God has blessed him so much. He preaches at two churches – Sit’em Down and First Christian. And God will bless you; he wants you to come to Him and He will fix your problems. John 8:36 says, “If the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed.”
