Summer in East Texas is always hot and sometimes very, very dry. Lack of water is hard on our lawns and flowers and harder on vegetable gardens. The 4-H group sponsored by Sit’em Down Cowboy Church discovered this first-hand this spring and summer. Harder still is the huge water bill that comes from trying to keep the veggie garden alive!

Another ‘water’ issue is the arena. A huge part of the Cowboy Church mission field is the arena where they hold a variety of events…team ropings, barrel races, kids’ horseless rodeos, gospel music festivals, and more. Every event includes the Message of God’s Word and His love for us. No exception. Without going into great detail, let’s just say this very big arena is dirt and has to be watered down before these events. And here is where that water bill grows even larger.

Now, the question is “How do we solve this problem?” PRAY…Ask God for guidance. The solution: dig a water well. But that’s expensive. Solution: hold a fundraiser.

Sit’em Down Cowboy Church will hold an auction on Saturday, October 6th starting at 10am and they’re asking for you to help by donating usable items such as appliances, tools, farm equipment, saddles or tack, even livestock. (No clothing, please.) Beginning Saturday, September 15th small to medium size donations can be dropped off at the church – 721 Dial Road, Big Sandy. Large items will be received Saturday, September 29th through the day of the auction. Horses and livestock will be received the morning of the auction and all horses must have a Coggins. Please call one of the Arena Team members listed below to be certain someone is at the church to receive your items or to schedule a time to pick up your donation. You will be given a receipt for tax purposes. Don’t worry about getting hungry because there will be BBQ and all the fixins’ available.

Located at Davis Ranch – 721 Dial Road – Sit’em Down Cowboy Church has been an active member of the Big Sandy community for several years, sponsoring Christmas toy and food drives for the Agape House, participating in Ministerial Alliance events (Easter Sunrise services, School Prayer Walk, Community-wide Thanksgiving services, and Christmas Walk), Annual BSISD Teacher/Staff Luncheon, and more. Let’s pull together and help with this project that will help so many. If you don’t have anything to donate, monetary gifts are always appreciated.
