“At the regular City Council meeting on June 19, 2018, the Council approved a number of street maintenance repairs as part of its ‘Better Roads Ahead’ program” (from the City of Big Sandy Facebook page)

If you live or travel on certain streets in Big Sandy, you’re probably a bit happier now that you no longer have to dodge pot holes and washed out areas. Last week, workers and equipment from Upshur County’s Road and Bridge Department were in town working on several neglected streets – Wimberly, Meason, T&P Avenue, Border, Old Waters Bluff, Lovie Smith, and Roberts. Because of an inter-local agreement with Upshur County – they furnish the manpower and equipment while the City provides the materials – the cost of this project was approximately $21,000. Joe Pope with the City Public Works Department assisted with the project.

If you have questions about the repairs if you would like to suggest a street for repair, please snap a picture and send to for consideration.
