Lot's of goodies at Nanny's Porch!

Good Morning, Friends. I begin with sad news. Friday, July 21st, God called home a sweet, sweet man – Charles L. Still, Sr. There is so much to be said of Charles’ life and his legacy, but I’ll leave that to others. I will just say that I loved him and I will miss him.

Friday morning coffee and cookies was well attended this past week. First Methodist Pastor, Dr. Jack Hetzel, was the first to join us. We were in the middle of a mini Bible study when that beautiful redhead from The Journal, Kate Kirby, joined us and the Bible study discussion. Journal contributor and friend, Dave Ellison, soon followed. Miss Clara Kay from Hawkins ran by looking for Kate. We have lots of fun at The Porch and many of you are simply missing out by not stopping in! Come see us…you never know what we’re up to!

My Daddy always said this to me!

As you probably know, we have a new addition to our household – Belle the beagle puppy. Well, Chris, Kelly, and the boys went to New Orleans last week with Zach’s baseball team and our grand-dog, L.P. (the lab), stayed with us. WOW, did those two pups have fun! They ran, fought over toys, wanted to eat each other’s food, and made a lot of noise…kind of like having kids again. And we loved almost every minute! Milkshake not so much.

‘Music and a Slice of Pie,’ the fundraiser for Pritchett Community Center was great! Lots of fabulous pies and awesome music from the East Mountain Gospel Bluegrass Band, The Jordon’s – Bryce and Kayla from Longview, and last but never least, Pritchett’s own Porter Click joined the band for a song. He’s pretty good…once he gets over being shy! Thanks Pritchett folks, for being so welcoming.

It’s almost time for the 27th Annual Big Sandy All-School Reunion on Saturday, August 5th. Folks will start gathering in the Student Center around 9am and lunch will be served at noon in the cafeteria. Catered by Longhorn Smokehouse (owners Mike and Stephanie Hill are BSHS alumni), lunch will be their awesome bar-b-que beef and chicken, potato salad, cole slaw, beans, and dessert. Cost is $15 per person. If you’re going, you need to contact Mary Lynn Gorman (903-636-4724) or Mary Lingle (903-636-4259) for reservations no later than July 31st. NOTE: NANNY’S PORCH WILL BE CLOSED ALL DAY (AUGUST 5TH) FOR THE SCHOOL REUNION!

New friend, Jurgen Simons, came by to visit a while. He and his wife have recently relocated from Dallas area, calling Hawkins home now. Jurgen is with Edward Jones and has opened a new office in Gladewater. If you want to put your money to work, give him a call – 903-704-3548.

We’ve had visits in the last couple of weeks from Muriel Lenhart from FNB, Melody Payne from Austin Bank, Paula Hayes and Linda Turk from Longview, Joyce Williams from HLR, Marsha Buchheit, and Billy Earl and Jo Hobbs from Tyler. Wayne and Michael pop in occasionally, just to make sure we’re working, I think. Pritchett favorites, Jerry and Ann Kuhn, came by Saturday. While Ann shopped a little, Jerry showed off his new ‘monster lawn mower.’

Ladies (and gentlemen), let’s talk POO. Unpleasant? Yes. Fact of life? Yes, again. Make it less unpleasant with POO-POURRI from Nanny’s Porch. In appealing scents like Royal Flush, Tropical Hibiscus, Lavender Vanilla, Original Citrus, Deja Poo (white flowers and citrus), and the ever-popular Trap-a-Crap (cedarwood and citrus). In bathroom sizes and purse sizes…don’t be unpleasant! Now you can “go” with POO-POURRI! (Really, really ‘shameless promotion’ over!)

And on that note, I think I’ll wrap this up. Y’all be blessed, and as always…see you at Nanny’s Porch!
