Good morning, Friends! Hope all is well and you’ve had a good week. We’re managing to stay cool, although the Friday morning baseball game at UT-Tyler was a bit warm. Could have been the ‘heat’ from the field created by our grandson, Zach. Great catch at first base, stretching way out, then a stand-up double to drive in three runs. And they won (10-0). Yep, it was hot!
Betty had a house-full of love over the weekend. Her youngest, Brad is celebrating his 50th birthday. Brad, along with wife, Jessica, and kids, Isabelle, Mirabelle, and Leland; son, Clay; daughter Donna and husband, Stephen, and their kids, Allison and Justin and Justin’s wife, Noemi enjoyed a long visit and lots of good cooking!
August is going to be a busy month, so I’ll just give you the first three weeks of activities! Saturday, August 5th is the Big Sandy All-School Reunion. Saturday night, the BSHS Class of 1967 will celebrate their 50th at Davis Ranch Arena -Sit’em Down Cowboy Church area. Marsha Martin Buchheit says it is for “the Class of ’67 and friends.” Big Sandy Chamber of Commerce and Rotary Club will have their joint meeting at noon, Monday, August 7th in the New Beginnings Fellowship Hall. Big Sandy Ministerial Alliance regular meeting will be on Wednesday, August 9th at 1:30pm at New Beginnings. Mt. Sinai Baptist Church will hold a musical on Saturday, August 12th at 7pm. On Tuesday, August 15th, the Big Sandy City Council will meet at 6pm in City Hall. Whew! That’s a lot. If you have an event you would like mentioned, please email firstname.lastname@example.org.
We’ve had a few visitors at Nanny’s Porch. Norma Penney, Lynda Childress, and one of our favorite US Post Office friends, Victoria Denton, popped in for a visit. Great friend, Tamra Byrd Boykin, came in Thursday and we had a nice visit. I came in a bit late Friday (baseball!) and had just missed another mini-Bible study with Pastor Jack Hetzel and Jackie, along with Boo and Marsha Buchheit. SFG folks Judy Crow, Connie Pruitt, Delesia Hudson, and Martha Coquat came by around lunch time. Just as they were leaving, Lois Peterson and newlywed daughter, Anna Peterson McIver, came in. It’s hard to believe Anna is a grown-up married lady now! Saturday morning, Jacquie Suell visited with us. My little brother, Rickey, came by, too. He and members of the Big Sandy Area Lions Club had been picking up trash on their adopted two-mile stretch on Hwy 80 between Big Sandy and Hawkins. (Great, hard-working folks in the Lions Club!)
Ok, “shameless promotion” time. Come by Nanny’s Porch and meet our newest partner, Victoria. She will be modeling all of our latest fashion finds. She’s kind of shy so don’t expect a lot of conversation!
Don’t forget: We’ll be closed Saturday, August 5th, for the Big Sandy All-School Reunion. Y’all be blessed, and as always…see you at Nanny’s Porch!
