MUMS! Ten inch pots $10 and twelve inch pots $12.

Good morning, Friends! Hope this finds you all feeling blessed. The rain on Tuesday was a welcome sight. Just enough to perk up the grass, but not too much that we have to mow again! Michael and I went to Lindale Saturday night to have supper with the kids and celebrate Chris’ birthday. He grilled steaks and chicken, while Kelly handled everything else. We took Belle so she could play with grand-dog, L.P. Seth and his soccer buddy, Axel, kept them entertained, too.

Speaking of birthday…my baby brother, Rickey Caughron, will celebrate his 59th on Thursday, October 12th. I’m so proud of the man he has become and while we don’t always see eye-to-eye (he would insert a short joke here), we’re always supportive of each other when necessary. Happy Birthday, Rickey! I love you!

Thanks to everyone who braved the sprinkles Tuesday night and attended one of the Texas Night Out gatherings. And a huge thanks to our law enforcement and firefighters. Your jobs are hard, but you’re out every day and night, taking care of us. A few more events this month: City Council meeting is Tuesday, October 17th at 6pm; Gilmer Yamboree is October 18-21; Big Sandy Rotary Club Waffle Breakfast is Saturday, October 28th 7-11am at New Beginnings; Fun n Fall is also at New Beginnings on October 28th 1-4pm.

And when you finish at Fun n Fall, run down to Sit’em Down Cowboy Church for their “Trunk & Treat” starting at 5:30pm. This free event is an alternative to traditional trick or treat. It’s held at Davis Ranch Arena (covered and lighted), in a family-friendly, Christian environment. Trunks will be decorated – nothing scary – candy will be handed out, plus there’s a hayride!

Nacole Eaton dropped by last week and we talked about the new adventure that she and her hubby, Justin, have started. They are the new managers of Lake Hawkins RV Park. Check out their Facebook page (Lake Hawkins RV Park) or give them a call at 903-769-4545.

Ok, here’s what you’ve been waiting for…another “shameless promotion” for Nanny’s Porch. We have big, pretty mums, snapdragons, combo pots of mums and fountain grass, and pumpkins…unusual pumpkins…plus small, very unusual gourds and pumpkins that are perfect for table decorations. You will need to hurry before they’re all taken. Seriously, folks, come see us. We’ll even meet you if you can’t come before we close. Also, don’t forget the “SHOP LOCALLY” promotion. We’ve got a few entries and the first drawing is Friday, October 13th.

Small gourds and pumpkins!

Well, think I’m finished for the night. But before I forget, I promised Mary Lynn Gorman I would mention that she’s having a GARAGE SALE on Friday and Saturday, October 13-14 starting at 8am. The address is 104 East Cotton in Big Sandy. Remember, if you have anything you want included in the column, send an email, text, or better yet, come by the Porch! Y’all be blessed and as always…see y’all at Nanny’s Porch!
