Good morning, Friends! Hope you all had a blessed Thanksgiving. We hosted our family gathering. Chris, Kelly, Zach, and Seth came from Lindale before heading to Liberty City to be with Kelly’s family, plus Rickey, Deb, and Mother.
There’s lots of activities coming up, but first I want to say how proud I am of our Wildcats. You fought the hard fight and while the season is over, your memories will last forever. You all – team, band, and cheer – have the love and gratitude of an entire town and decades of Wildcat alumni. Thank you.
The Community-wide Thanksgiving service was awesome! Agape House Director Sharon Hill says there were 144 in attendance and a love offering of $818 was received. Such a blessing! And, Angel Trees are located at Austin Bank and First National Bank-Big Sandy Branch. The next community event will be the Christmas Walk on Monday, December 18th (6pm). This year, the Walk will begin at First Baptist on Hwy 155 and New Beginnings Christian Fellowship will be sharing this time with First Baptist. Next stops are First United Methodist, First Christian, the Big Sandy Music Hall, Gospel Lighthouse, Mt. Sinai, and ending at Sit’em Down Cowboy Church for refreshments. This is one of my favorite events. I love visiting each church, and with so many in true ‘walking distance,’ the fellowship of the evening is a blessing. Please make time to attend. And, yes, you can drive to each church if you don’t want to walk!
The Big Sandy Christmas Parade is scheduled for Thursday, December 14th. Line up begins at 6pm on Pearl Street with the parade starting at 6:30. If you would like to participate, call Carla Lucas at First National Bank 903-636-5540. I’ll have the route information after the December 4th Chamber of Commerce meeting.
My Pritchett friend, Sandra Click, came by last week and left some information on an event in White Oak. The “Sister 2 Sister Rally” will be held on December 7th, 6-8:30pm, at White Oak High School and is hosted by Emmanuel Baptist Church. The Mission Statement reads, “The purpose of the Sister-to-Sister Rally is to celebrate, connect, and challenge women in their relationship with Jesus Christ and with one another.” Supper will be served at 6pm but you must register at www.sistertosisterrallly.com. If you need additional information, call 903-720-5815 or email email@example.com. The event is free.
Don’t forget the Big Sandy Area Lions Club will be sponsoring a blood drive and fundraiser on Saturday, December 9th from 10am-2pm in the east parking lot of Austin Bank. They will be selling baked potatoes and home-made chili for $6; HOWEVER, if you donate blood, they will give you a 50% discount – lunch for $3 and you will have given a life-saving gift! See their Facebook page for more information.
Now for the long-awaited “shameless promotion” of Nanny’s Porch! The SHOP LOCALLY promotion produced winners for the past two weeks – Pat Bender from Tyler, and our own sweet friend, Barbara Rhoades! Congrats, ladies. We took a few days off last week for Thanksgiving, but by the time you read this, we should be in the Christmas spirit at The Porch. We have lots of gifts, jewelry, and accessories…perfect for Christmas…and all on sale! Beginning Friday, December 1st, we’ll be open until 5pm Tuesday through Friday. If you need us on the weekend, just let us know!
Guess I’ll close for now. Be safe in your shopping travels, and at all times, please remember the true reason we celebrate – the birth of our LORD and Savior, Jesus Christ. Y’all be blessed, and as always…see you a Nanny’s Porch!
