Good morning, Friends! Hope all is well with everyone. Jackie and I have been channeling our inner “Clark Griswold” and Nanny’s Porch is very, very festive – inside and out! And all of the beautiful lighted outside decorations are for sale – Santa, train set, soldiers and more. Come by and take advantage of some real bargains.
We had lots of fun folks visiting last week and one of these lucky friends – Linda Allaire – was the winner of our SHOP LOCALLY promotion gift bag. Linda and her awesome hubby, Pat, are frequent visitors at the Porch and their sweet spirits are always a blessing. Peggy LaForce and Debra Johnston came by, along with Mary Kay Thomas, Jeannie and Joe David Hill, and Marsha Buchheit. We talked about next year’s garden season with Maxey Swanner and our friend and true English Lady, Sylvia Duke, stopped in. While we started talking about making Christmas candy, the conversation took a more sophisticated turn when Sylvia described a ‘traditional Cornish cream tea’ complete with warm scones spread with butter, jam, and topped with clotted cream. Yum. We decided we must try this. To finish out the week, our Friday favorite, Jack Hetzel, came in for coffee and donuts (I was lazy and didn’t bake cookies!).
Don’t forget the Pritchett Christmas parade, Saturday, December 9th, 10am-noon. I’m told there will be cookies, hot drinks, candy canes, and Santa Claus! Pritchett folks really know how to party and are so welcoming to us out-of-towners! Love ’em! Big Sandy’s Annual Christmas parade is scheduled for Thursday, December 14h. Line up on Pearl Street at 6pm and the parade will start at 6:30. Route starting on Pearl, will turn west on Hwy 80 to the red light, south on Tyler Street (Hwy 155) to the four-way stop at Gilmer Street, then east on Gilmer Street and finish at the Community Center. Call Carla Lucas at First National Bank (903-636-5540) for your spot in the parade!
According to Better Homes & Gardens, Wednesday, December 13th, is National Hot Cocoa Day! “Go ahead and make yourself a mug. Research shows that the antioxidants in hot chocolate can help lower your cholesterol and blood pressure. Use dark chocolate cocoa power to get the most health benefits.” And where could you get some of this wonderful, healing stuff? Why, Nanny’s Porch, of course! We have great hot chocolate mix! Wassail and hot spiced cider, too! (Pretty good ‘shameless promotion,’ huh?) We also have a great SALE going on now on gifts, accessories, jewelry, and clothes. You can find the perfect stocking stuffers, too. And we deliver!
Guess I’ll close for this week. Y’all be blessed, and as always…see you at Nanny’s Porch!
