Sonny and Jane

Good morning, Friends. Again, we are saddened by the loss of a dear friend. Jane Parsons was received into the arms of our Lord God on Monday, December 11th. Jane, wife of our minister, Sonny Parsons, was truly a pure soul. Although she was suffering with constant pain, Jane always had a smile and a sweet word for everyone. When asked how she was doing, she would say, “Ask me no questions and I’ll tell you no lies.” Jane’s memorial service was as beautiful as she and a loving tribute from her family and friends. I said we were sad at her passing but only because we will miss her; but we are joyous that she is no longer in pain and is reunited I Heaven with her loving son, Todd. I’ll miss her sitting in front of me in church. Many times, she couldn’t stand for the Benediction song and prayer, but would take my hand as we sang and her beloved Sonny prayed. Our love and prayers for Sonny, their daughter Amy, family and many friends.

There are so many folks who are feeling a bit ‘under the weather’ this past week with colds, flu, sinus infections, etc. Please pray for healing for our friends!

Last Saturday, there was lots of smoke and flames on West Gilmer Street. The Big Sandy Volunteer Fire Department used an abandoned house (across the street from my house) for training exercises. We were in Iola for the Baggett family Christmas, so I missed the ‘live action,’ but Ken Danapas sent some incredible pictures!

Saturday evening, The Journal and Big Sandy Music Hall had a rockin’ Christmas party. Snacks downstairs and great entertainment upstairs…Heather Little and friends, The Kirbys, and First Verse. There’s always fun at the Big Sandy Music Hall!

Blues Baking will hold their GRAND OPENING and RIBBON CUTTING on Thursday, December 21st from 6-7pm. They are located at 906 West Broadway (Hwy 80) and will be offering samples of some great goodies…FYI – the brownies are fabulous!

We had quite a few friends drop in last week…Peggy LaForce, Debra Johnston, Tamra Boykin, Billie Johnson, David Barber, Sonny, and Michael. We even had a brief visit from ‘the law’…Chris Baggett. The big SALE is still going on so come on by and pick up some bargains. Guess I’ll close for this week. Y’all be blessed and see you at Nanny’s Porch!
