Good morning, Friends! Hope everyone has had a good start to 2018. Jackie and I worked a little last week at The Porch…packing clothes and other merchandise away…moving furniture to get ready for reopening on Tuesday, February 6th. Hours will be Tuesday-Friday, 10am to 5pm; Saturday 8am-2pm and we’ll make an adjustment when the time changes in March. As you read this on Wednesday, we’ll be in Dallas at market searching for all things garden.
Don’t forget the Big Sandy Chamber of Commerce banquet on Thursday, January 25th. Doors open at the Church of God (Broadway Street/Hwy) at 6pm and supper from Longhorn Smokehouse will be served at 6:30. Banquet Chair, Nancy Church has secured Texas Representative Jay Dean as featured speaker, Joe Don Saxon will serve as auctioneer for the fun-filled cake auction, and Travis Brewer and Dwayne Canup will oversee the silent auction. Recognition awards will be presented for Man and Woman of the Year, Lifetime Achievement, Educator of the Year, Firefighter of the Year, and Miss Big Sandy. Tickets are $15 each or reserved tables of eight for $110 and can be purchased at Austin Bank. Deadline for table reservations is January 22nd.
Pritchett Community will host a ‘Candidate Forum’ on Thursday, February 8th at 7pm. Upshur County candidates are scheduled to speak then be available to answer questions. Refreshments will be served at the Pritchett Community Center.
This is a short column…not a lot going on right now. Keep watching for our changes, and as always…be blessed and see you at Nanny’s Porch!
