Good morning, Friends! The month of January is almost over and should go out with a WOW! Wednesday night is supposed to bring a ‘super Blue Blood Moon eclipse’ (Google it…too much to print here!). Let’s just hope the sky is clear and we can see this cool event.

The Big Sandy Chamber of Commerce Banquet was a huge success! Thanks to all who contributed sweets for the cake auction and items for the silent auction. Money raised will be used to award scholarships to BSISD Seniors. Congratulations to the outstanding citizens who were recognized: George and Ruth Ann Eaton – Man and Woman of the Year; Stephen Winchell – Firefighter of the Year; Keith Langston – Lifetime Achievement Award; Teri Jackson – Educator of the Year; and Miss Big Sandy, Halee Cook. Banquet Chair, Nancy Church, did an outstanding job organizing this fun event and thumbs up to Longhorn Smokehouse and Blues Bakery for great food.

Now, let’s get to the “shameful promotion” of Nanny’s Porch. We will reopen at 10am on Tuesday, February 6th with a different direction – plants and gardening gifts. While it’s still a bit early (COLD) for lots of plants, we have really neat and unique gifts…rain chains and rain gauges, butterfly solar lights, and Art Pots. Arriving in the next few weeks will be washable paper bags – great for gifts and plants; outside speakers; door décor; and beautiful reverse close umbrellas and rain capes.

Jackie and I will be working on some custom projects and Jennifer Davis will have some of her creations exclusively at The Porch…chalk painted fruit jars in hand-made crates. Also, if you’ve been in any store recently, you’ll know that Valentine’s Day is just around the corner so we’re getting ready, too. Place your order with us no later than 5p.m. on Friday, February 9th. Delivery is free on orders of $25 or more in Big Sandy, Hawkins, Winona, and Holly Lake Ranch. (I’ll even sing to someone you don’t like, but that service is very expensive!) Don’t forget we’ll be offering coffee, muffins, cookies, and cupcakes and have tables for inside and outside seating, so come visit a while.

I’m going to have to cut the column a bit short. Belle Baggett (our beagle pup) has been tearing up and down the hall with her squeaky bone and now is trying to eat the rocking chair in Michael’s office. It’s a little distracting. Don’t forget we’ll be open Tuesday, February 6th! Be blessed and as always…see you at Nanny’s Porch!
