Good morning, Friends. We start the week with heavy hearts. Saturday, Janie Swanner passed from this world to be with God. Miss Janie was such a sweet lady. Please keep Maxey and family in your prayers.
Good Friday service at First United Methodist Church was well attended and such a blessing. Pastors and Elders from First Baptist, First Christian, Gospel Lighthouse, New Beginnings Christian Fellowship, Sit’em Down Cowboy Church, and host church, First Methodist spoke of the brutality of the crucifixion of Christ. But they also reminded us that on the third day He rose and because of His sacrifice – dying for our sins – we will see Him again in Glory! Easter ‘Sonrise’ service was also well attended and again, local pastors spoke of Christ’s resurrection. Both these gatherings were sponsored by the Big Sandy Ministerial Alliance.
Happy Birthday to Miss Alma Fitzgerald, who celebrated her 100th birthday! Such a milestone. All our love, Miss Alma! Our grandson, Seth, enjoyed a family cook-out Sunday afternoon in Lindale to celebrate his 11th birthday. Along with birthdays, we have a retirement. First Christian Church Pastor Sonny Parsons officially retired (again) on Sunday, April 1st. Thank you, Sonny, you’ve been a true blessing.
Don’t forget: Friday and Saturday (April 6th and 7th), Big Sandy FFA will hold their annual plant sale at the FFA Greenhouse on West College Street. They’ll have veggies, ferns, and flowers. Friday, Saturday, and Sunday (April 6th, 7th, and 8th), the City of Big Sandy will hold the Annual Spring Clean Up. Details are on the City Facebook page or you can call City Hall at 903-636-4343. You must have your City of Big Sandy water bill to show proof of residency.
Ready for the “shameless promotion?” Here goes…WE HAVE PLANTS SO COME AND GET THEM! They are beautiful and must be seen in person to appreciate! Visitors this week were Nancy and Destiny Clark from Latch, Talyn Carlson, Maddie Robinson, Lisa Slagle, Mary Lynn Gorman and Kimber, Maxey, Sonny, Michael, Wayne, James Vester, and four of my very favorite people…Chris, Kelly, Zach, and Seth Baggett from Lindale.
Guess I’ll close for now. Spring is here so get out of the house and enjoy the beauty of the season. Y’all be blesses and, as always…see you at Nanny’s Porch!
