Good morning, Friends! Hope this finds you all well and happy. On a personal note, Michael and I want to thank everyone for their prayers and support before, during, and after his surgery. His doctors, Dr. George Smith at Hugman-Kent Clinic in Gladewater; Dr. Feng Li and our daughter-in-law, Kelly, at Christus Trinity Mother Frances in Tyler; and Dr. Rohan Jeyarajah at Methodist Richardson Cancer Center were all amazing physicians. We had prayer with his surgeon, Dr. Jeyarajah, and with Jack Hetzel (via telephone). Very encouraging to hear your doctor ask God to act through him to heal. Thanks, also, to my baby brother, Rickey, for being a calming spirit! I’m hopeful that by the time y’all read this, Michael is home with me, Belle, and Milkshake.
Award-winning Wildcat Band’s ‘Concert in the Park’ was great Saturday afternoon. I hope they make this an annual event! Also enjoyed the Wildcat FFA Fish Fry and auction. Dayton Plunkett was the big winner of a really cool Winchester gun safe.
Big Sandy Volunteer Fire Department 3rd Annual Bar-b-que is scheduled for Saturday, May 19th. Grab your neighbors and call your out of town relatives and have them meet you in downtown Big Sandy for food, music, auctions, door prizes, kids’ activities, and great fellowship. The fun runs from 10am – 4pm and all proceeds go toward making our VOLUNTEER fire department better (which is a real challenge because they’re GREAT!)
If you missed the Pink Floyd tribute, Floyd/Void, at the Big Sandy Music Hall, don’t despair! They will offer encore presentations on Friday and Saturday – last weekend of May, June, and July. It’s a fabulous show!
Don’t forget Mother’s Day is coming up – Sunday, May 13th. We still have lots of pretty flowers, Art Pots, and other gifts for Mom. (Look at that “shameless promotion” slipping in there!) Well, guess I’ll finish this week’s column. Remember, we are closing Nanny’s Porch on Thursday, May 31st so come by and see us (and bring your wallet!) Y’all be blessed…and see you at Nanny’s Porch!
