Beautiful wreath by Betty Johnson.

Good morning, Friends! I hope everyone had a good week and all our Moms enjoyed a great Mother’s Day! Many churches honored the oldest and youngest moms and those with the most children, plus presented roses to all moms. Mother (Maybelle ‘Mimi’ Caughron) was recognized at Sit’em Down Cowboy Church as the oldest at age 97. A sweet moment for Jackie, Betty, and me came Saturday afternoon. Our friend, Dwayne Canup, brought us a beautiful Mother’s Day card and Russian Rock cookies from the Butcher Shop! What an angel! Thank you, Dwayne!

We had a busy week at Nanny’s Porch and hope all the moms know we loved helping your kids find just the right gift for you. We especially loved the young ones…watching them carefully evaluate everything we offered and their faces light up when they found the perfect gift. Thank you all for including us in this special time.

Hope all avoided damage from the storms on Thursday. A tree fell on power lines in front of Lyles Street Church of Christ and a transformer sparked in front of the Agape House, causing power outages all over town. The folks at SWEPCO had everything up and running by 10pm! Thank you!

The Ministerial Alliance met last week and finalized plans for Wednesday’s Baccalaureate for our Big Sandy Senior Class. The entire high school has been invited to the service that will begin at 2pm in the auditorium at Big Sandy High School. A reception will follow in the Student Center.

Jackie, Betty, and I offer our condolences to the families of Janie Snider Stewart and Jack Brewer. Janie and Jack were Big Sandy Wildcat grads and will be missed. Our prayers for the families and friends.

Let’s see, who visited with us last week? Pritchett friends, Jarrod and Kathryn Wilson came by Saturday. If you’re following Jarrod and Kathryn’s pup, Buddy, on Facebook, you’ll be happy to know he’s doing well and should have gone home from Dr. Spencer’s on Monday. More Pritchett folks, Jerry and Ann Kuhn, were also in Saturday morning. Ann’s arm is healing, but she says physical therapy is tough. Becky Desborough popped in and got the last two tropical salmon cannas she saw on our Facebook page. We’ve had requests for this color so Jackie may be on a shopping trip next week!

Tena Jones and her beautiful daughter, Analeice, treated us to a style show. Thank you for showing us how great some of our clothing selections look on real ladies! Mary Lynn Gorman and grandkids, Billy and Shelly Howell, and the “Princess of Pilot Point,” Liz Elkins were also visitors at The Porch. We also got to visit with Robin Crabtree, Quindy Whitaker, the DeCuir boys, and many more. And a nice lady from White Oak stopped in as she was going to Gainesville to visit her mom. Hope mom likes the gift!

Betty has completed a few custom-order wreaths and cemetery saddles. Her talent and creativity is just amazing, each piece will be unique, and you will love it!

That’s all for this week. Be blessed, and as always…see you at Nanny’s Porch!
