Tyler Junior College offers travel/study projects in Greece from March 8 to 17, with flexible options for 10-, 11- or 12-day tours.

Long considered the cradle of Western civilization, Greek culture provides the basis for many ideas about democracy, Christianity, classical literature, mythology, language, war, science, medicine, education, art, architecture and sports.

The tours will provide a crash course in ancient Greek history, early Christianity, and an education in the origins of the Western world.

The itinerary includes seven of the 18 UNESCO heritage sites of Greece, including the Acropolis (Athens), Corinth, Epidaurus, Nafplio, Mycenae, Olympia, Meteora, and Delphi, among many other places. Travelers will have an opportunity to develop their own respect for the country’s history and beauty, but above all come to love her vibrant and welcoming people.

Cost for the land portion of the 10-day tour is $2,090. Travelers will purchase air travel separately through their preferred airline. If needed, staff will assist with this process.

Trip cost includes: ground transportation; double occupancy room in four-star hotels; entrance fees to sites; two meals per day; professional, English-speaking tour guide; and all taxes and fees.

Full payment is due at registration. Participation is open to the public.

A free information session about the trip will be held 9 a.m. Saturday, Feb, 2, in Room 208 of the Ornelas Health & Physical Education Center on the TJC main campus. Any interested person may attend.
