We love publishing your local newspaper, and all are welcomed to send in articles and opinions, this is the America in which we live.

This is the community’s newspaper, and what you say matters. We love helping all of our local businesses, churches, and organizations get the word out about their particular activities.

We cater to our local schools, Hawkins ISD, Winona ISD, Harmony ISD, and Big Sandy ISD, and our local college, Jarvis Christian College.

Within our immediate geographic area, we provide up to date, and weekly information to more than 16,000 rural and in-town residents.

Everyone in our community is important to us, and we want to make sure safety and emergency situations are handled appropriately. If you’d like to voice a concern that will enable us to do a better job communicating news,  that will enable our business to grow, we welcome that feedback as a positive and fruitful contribution.

The Big Sandy Hawkins Journal has been in existence since the late 1930s. Our history is preserved in a large archive of print editions, which serve as the official record of our area’s history with the State and National Press Associations. Our online readership far surpasses our print edition subscribers, and we are pleased that so many of you choose to follow us online. Our readership is vast with print editions being sent to several out-of-city and out-of-state readers from California to Florida. Online, we serve as a regional hub for news and events, but our stats show readers in England, Holland and a few in Australia and Germany.

The Journal Your Hometown News Source is proud to continue to provide the most up-to-date information in print and online, regardless of political opinions. We love our readers and supporters and hope to continue to enable our communities to thrive. Please join us in shopping local, and being an active member of your local economy. Regardless of shifting preferences of news sources, we plan to remain your hometown news source.

Thank you, Sincerely for your continued support,

Andrew & Kate Kirby, Publishers
