July 29

Deputy Donivan South was dispatched to a residence on CR 2724 in reference to a report that a woman had been bitten by a feral cat. South spoke with the victim who stated she feeds a few feral cats in the area and was bitten in the wrist area by a young adult female cat. The woman’s husband agreed to capture the cat and take it to an animal clinic so that rabies tests could be conducted. This case is closed.

 

July 30

Deputy Dustin Moffett was dispatched to CR 1971 in reference to possible fraud. Moffett spoke with a woman who owns rental cabins at the location. The woman advised that her daughter had found a box outside one of the rental units. The box contained checks and personal information for several different people. Multiple checks inside the box appeared to have been altered. Moffett also spoke with the owner of one of the altered checks and learned the man had written the check to pay his truck payment and had placed it in his mailbox. The check had been altered and made payable to a local discount store. This case has been turned over to CID for investigation.

 

Deputy Dustin Moffett was dispatched to a residence on CR 4490 in reference to a dog bite. The victim stated he was bitten on the leg by a small dog while running down the road. The man also advised the dog is owned by his friend on FM 2455. Both the victim and Deputy Moffett relocated to the friend’s house where the victim identified two puppies as being responsible for the bite. The man was unable to determine which of the puppies actually bit him. The puppies’ owner agreed to take them for quarantine. This case will be closed once the quarantine is completed successfully.

 

July 31

August 1

Deputy Jeremy Ragsdale was dispatched to an address at Holiday Villages in reference to a vehicle fire. Upon arrival, Ragsdale observed a small Nissan passenger car fully engulfed in flames. The car’s owner stated she did not know how the car caught fire. Ragsdale took photos of the car which was a total loss. This case has been turned over to the county fire marshal.

 

Deputy Austin Cryer and Sgt. Chris Turner arrested David Doyle McCarmack, 33, of Alba for evading arrest or detention after he fled out the back door of a residence and failed to stop when commanded to do so. After a brief search, McCarmack was found hiding in a dry ravine. He was transported to jail without incident.

 

Deputy Austin Cryer was dispatched to a residence on CR 2339 in reference to theft of service. The complainant stated he had ordered and paid for lumber from a local business and the lumber had never been delivered. The complainant produced a receipt showing he purchased $3,750 worth of lumber. The man also advised he had been to the business’ location and found it closed and available for lease. This case has been forwarded to CID. It will be added to other cases currently under investigation involving the same business.

 

Deputy Jeremy Ragsdale was dispatched to an address on FM 852 for a theft report. The complainant stated he had returned home after a week long absence to find that $1,000 cash was missing from his safe. Ragsdale recorded information regarding a possible suspect. The case has been assigned for investigation.

 

Deputy Dustin Fenlaw initiated a traffic stop on FM 2869 after observing a vehicle traveling 20 mph above the posted limit. Contact was made with the driver who was a fifteen year old unlicensed male. The boy was issued a ticket for driving without a license. The vehicle was released to the young man’s grandfather.

 

August 2

Deputies Justin Bowring and Steven Fields were dispatched to a residence on CR 4560 for a disturbance. The deputies arrived to find that the suspect had left the residence on an RTV after saying he was going to ride around and cool off. The victim stated she and the man had gotten into an argument and he had shot the window out of the door attempting to scare her. The weapon was located, unloaded, in the bedroom and was secured. Fields did observe what appeared to be a bullet in the ceiling of the screened in porch of the residence. After he returned to the residence, the suspect was questioned and stated he was not trying to shoot the woman, but was trying to scare her. Neither party wished to pursue charges in the matter and were separated for the night. This case is closed.

 

Deputy Steven Fields was dispatched to a residence on FM 17 in the Alba area in reference to a vehicle fire. Fields arrived to find the fire department on scene. A man reported that he was burning building materials and the grass somehow caught fire. He also stated that he came outside from getting a drink of water to find his 2014 Dodge Ram pickup on fire. Despite an attempt to extinguish the fire with a water hose, the man was unsuccessful. This case has been forwarded to the county fire marshal.

 

Deputy Dustin Fenlaw initiated a traffic stop on a vehicle after noting it matched the description of a car that was reported via 911 to be driving recklessly. Fenlaw made contact with the female driver and noted there were two child passengers and an adult male passenger. A routine check of the woman’s license revealed a protective order in place that made it unlawful for the male passenger to be around her. Omar Adriel Rodriguez, 31, of Lewisville, was arrested and transported to jail. He is charged with violation of a protective order.

August 3

Sgt. Sam Threadgill and Deputy Kevin Atkinson were dispatched to a residence on CR 1997 in the Yantis area in response to a welfare check. A man called for help because he had fallen and could not get up. Deputies arrived and summoned EMS because the man appeared to have some type of medical issue. While in the home, deputies observed a bag of suspected marijuana in plain view and learned that the room in which the marijuana was located belongs to the man’s live in caregiver. A syringe with suspected methamphetamine, Xanax tablets and drug paraphernalia was found as well. The woman was arrested after she returned to the residence.

Rhonda Lyn Hanson, 50, of Yantis was transported to jail without incident. She is charged with possession of a controlled substance, penalty group 1, one gram or more but less than four grams; possession of marijuana two ounces or less and possession of a controlled substance, penalty group 3, less than 28 grams. Bonds were set totaling $8,500.

 

August 4

Deputy Donivan South was dispatched to Big Country Feed Store on CR 2840 for a burglary of a building. The complainant stated several items were missing from a shed on the property including six wild game broadcasters, 6-volt, one wild game broadcaster, 12-volt; three Boss Buck conversion kits and a Razor blind. The total value of the missing property is just under $600. According to the complainant, the shed had been left unlocked for several weeks and it was unknown how long the items had been missing. At the complainant’s request, an incident report was completed for documentation purposes.
