Deputy Steven Fields was dispatched to a residence on CR 2749 in reference to a burglary that occurred sometime in the past 90 days. The complainant stated he had returned to the residence after an extended stay in jail and found numerous items missing from the home including a Murray riding mower, various hand tools, a tool box and some power tools. The total value of the missing items totals just under $2,600. The man also stated the back door of the residence had been forced open. This case was forwarded to CID and assigned for investigation.
Sgt. Chris Turner was dispatched to a residence on CR 2423 in response to a report of a stolen go-cart. According to the complainant, the go-cart’s value is $3,000. Information was provided regarding a possible suspect. Turner was able to locate footprints and tire tracks tying the suspect to the theft. The juvenile suspect admitted taking the go-cart and led Turner to its location. This case has been turned over to Juvenile Probation.
Sgt. Chris Turner took a report of theft of service from Fouke Water. Employees of the company found the lock on a meter had been cut allowing water usage at a residence where the water had previously been cut off. The case has been forwarded for investigation.
Deputy Steven Fields and Sgt. Brad Cates were dispatched to CR 2220 at approximately 4:15 a.m. for a burglary in progress. The female caller stated she walked outside her home to smoke a cigarette and saw a man inside her Ford SUV. The woman gave a description of the suspect and stated that she was missing pocket change from her car’s console and various music CD’s. Sgt. Cates located a male matching the suspect’s description walking in the area near a parked car. Cates made contact with the man, who stated he was just walking around looking at houses. During Cates’ investigation of the man, he discovered a large amount of change in the man’s pocket and a car stereo with the wires cut in the trunk of the suspect’s car. The complainant was able to positively identify the man as the person she saw in her vehicle. James Christopher Walls, 24, of Quitman was arrested and transported to jail. He is charged with burglary of a vehicle. The radio taken from Walls’ trunk was later discovered to have been stolen from another residence on CR 2220. It was released back to its rightful owner.
Deputy Donivan South took a report of an assault which occurred on FM 1801. A man reported he was assaulted by his son following a verbal disagreement. According to the victim, he was head butted in the face by his son who also picked up an ax and swung it around before leaving the property. The man stated he did not wish to pursue charges but did wish to have a Criminal Trespass Warning issued to his son. South’s attempts to contact the son have been unsuccessful thus far.
Deputy Tucker George was notified of a reckless driver reportedly traveling north on US Hwy 69 toward Alba. George located the suspect vehicle in an unmarked driveway and observed the vehicle running with its lights on. The car’s driver, a white male, was standing outside the vehicle. While speaking with the driver, George observed him to be unsteady on his feet with slurred speech and wearing pants wet from urine. The man seemed unsure of his location and stated he believed he was on Hwy 154. Several empty beer bottles were found scattered about the vehicle as well as an open beer in the cup holder. Richard Lee Barnett, 60, of Alba was arrested for public intoxication. Barnett’s vehicle was released to a wrecker service at his request.

Deputy Austin Cryer took a theft report from a woman who stated a 5’ iron welded sunflower was missing from a family member’s grave at Enon Cemetery. The sunflower is valued at $50 and was taken some time in the past two weeks. The woman stated she did wish to pursue charges if a suspect could be located. This case has been forwarded and assigned for investigation.
Deputy Dustin Fenlaw was dispatched to a residence on CR 3900 at 7:00 pm in regards to a burglary. The complainant stated his house had been broken into and several firearms including seven rifles, six shotguns and one pistol were taken. The collective value of the missing firearms is $5,755. The man also gave information about a probable suspect. All but two of the firearms were recovered just before 11:00 pm after a local police department answered a call involving the suspect. CID investigators will continue to work the case.
Deputy Dustin Fenlaw was dispatched to CR 4420 in response to a report of illegal dumping. The complainant stated he had discovered that someone was dumping trash into a creek down from his residence. The man also advised that he and his wife had already cleaned up the trash but had taken photos of it prior to cleaning. According to the man, several pieces of the trash contained indentifying information. The case has been forwarded and assigned for investigation.
Sgt. Chris Turner took a report of debit card abuse from a woman who stated her debit card had been used fraudulently at Wal-Mart in Nacogdoches. The woman had already contacted both her bank and Wal-Mart. The case has been assigned for investigation.
Investigator Sgt. Robert Holland obtained a felony warrant for Gregory Keith Roberts for theft $1,500 or more but less than $20,000. Roberts was operating a business in Mineola and took money from customers for building materials which were never delivered. Roberts was arrested on this warrant and an outstanding warrant from Anderson County for the same charge. Bonds were set at $57,500.
Sgt. Kyle Henson obtained a felony warrant for Randall Todd Greenough, 52, of Yantis for sexual assault of a child at the conclusion of his investigation into a reported sexual assault. Greenough was subsequently arrested and transported to jail. Bond was set at $50,000.
