Wood County Sheriff’s Report

October 4, 2017 to October 10, 2017 – unedited

October 4th

Deputies were dispatched to HWY 182 near Alba, at approximately 7:19 a.m., in reference to criminal trespass. Actors, or actors unknown, fled the scene, prior to the deputies’ arrival. This case has been forwarded to investigators.

At 7:40 a.m., cows were reported out on CR 1150 near Quitman.

Deputies were dispatched to HWY 154 near Quitman, at approximately 7:50 a.m., in reference to an alarm. Deputies checked the building and it was secure.

Deputies were dispatched to CR 2320 near Mineola, at approximately 10:20 a.m., in reference to unauthorized use of a motor vehicle. Deputies spoke with the reporting party and the incident was cleared.

At 10:25 a.m., cows were reported out on CR 1413 near Quitman.

Deputies were dispatched to FM 2088 near Quitman, at approximately 12:25 p.m., in reference to a burglary. Actors, or actors unknown, damaged the reporting party’s property and stole several tools. This case has been forwarded to investigators.

Deputies were dispatched to HWY 154 near Quitman, at approximately 1:21 p.m., in reference to a disturbance. Deputies located the incident and cleared the scene.

Deputies spoke with the reporting party, at approximately 2:53 p.m., in reference to a theft that occurred on Main St. in Quitman. A known actor hindered a secured creditor. This case has been forwarded to investigators.

Deputies were dispatched to HWY 154 near Quitman, at approximately 4:10 p.m., in reference to a disturbance. Parties were separated and the scene was cleared.

Deputies were dispatched to PR 6308 near Alba, at approximately 6:20 p.m., in reference to an alarm. Deputies checked the building and it was secure.

Deputies were dispatched to HWY 80 near Hawkins, at approximately 6:33 p.m., in reference to an assault that occurred. This case has been forwarded to investigators.

Deputies were dispatched to CR 3425 near Alba, at approximately 6:36 p.m., in reference to a welfare check. Deputies located the individual and everything was OK.

Deputies conducted a traffic stop on FM 2869 near Hawkins; at approximately 8:04 p.m. Steven Largent, 55, of Big Sandy, was arrested for an outstanding warrant.

Deputies were dispatched to CR 1885 near Yantis, at approximately 10:34 p.m., in reference to a disturbance. A Criminal Trespass Warning was issued and the scene was cleared.

At 11:28 p.m., horses were reported out on FM 17/South of FM 779.

October 5th

Deputies spoke with the reporting party, at approximately 6:10 a.m., in reference to an incident that occurred on FM 779 near Mineola. Deputies gave the reporting party advice and the incident was cleared.

At 12:44 p.m., cows were reported out on CR 1410 near Quitman.

Deputies were dispatched to PR 732 near Hawkins, at approximately 3:05 p.m., in reference to a welfare check. Deputies located the individual and everything was OK.

Deputies spoke with the reporting party, at approximately 5:27 p.m., in reference to a burglary that occurred on CR 4490 near Winnsboro. Actors, or actors unknown, stole several items from the reporting party’s residence. This case has been forwarded to investigators.

Deputies responded to a reckless driver on HWY 80 near Mineola; at approximately 5:40 p.m. This case has been forwarded to other agency.

Deputies spoke with the reporting party, at approximately 5:44 p.m., in reference to a theft that occurred on CR 2267 near Mineola. Actors, or actors unknown, stole a purse from the reporting party’s property. This case has been forwarded to investigators.

At 7:22 p.m., cows were reported out on FM 2088 near Quitman.

At 8:25 p.m., cows were reported out on FM 49 near Hainesville.

Deputies spoke with the reporting party, at approximately 10:52 p.m., in reference to criminal trespass. Actors, or actors unknown, fled the scene, prior to deputies’ arrival. This case has been forwarded to investigators.

Deputies responded to a suspicious vehicle on FM 779 near Quitman; at approximately 11:40 p.m. Deputies located the vehicle and cleared the scene.

October 6th

Deputies spoke with the reporting party, at approximately 8:36 a.m., in reference to a theft that occurred on FM 2869 near Hawkins. Actors, or actors unknown, stole a trailer from the reporting party’s property. This case has been forwarded to investigators.

At 9:22 a.m., cows were reported out on FM 2088 near Quitman.

Deputies were dispatched to CR 1336 near Quitman, at approximately 10:37 a.m., in reference to a burglary.  Actors, or actors unknown, damaged the reporting party’s building. This case has been suspended.

Deputies spoke with the reporting party, at approximately 11:26 a.m., in reference to an incident that occurred on Sioux near Quitman. The reporting party requested extra patrol for the area.

Deputies spoke with the reporting party, at approximately 5:13 p.m., in reference to an incident that occurred on CR 1987 near Yantis. The incident was cleared.

Deputies were dispatched to HWY 80 near Hawkins, at approximately 6:26 p.m., in reference to criminal mischief. Deputies searched the area, but were unable to locate any activity or damage.

Deputies responded to a suspicious person on CR 4560 near Winnsboro; at approximately 9:08 p.m. Deputies searched the area, but were unable to locate the individual.

At 9:40 p.m., horses were reported out on CR 2290 near Mineola.

At 9:55 p.m., a donkey was reported out on Fm 17/South of FM 779.

At 10:38 p.m., cows were reported out on CR 3230 near Quitman.

October 7th

Deputies spoke with the reporting party, at approximately 10:50 a.m., in reference to terroristic threats that occurred on CR 4596 near Winnsboro. The incident was cleared.

Deputies were dispatched to PR 7141 near Quitman, at approximately 1:12 p.m., in reference to a theft. Actors, or actors unknown, stole a trailer from the reporting party’s property. This case has been forwarded to investigators.

At 1:14 p.m., cows were reported out on HWY 154 near Quitman.

Deputies were dispatched to CR 1670 near Alba, at approximately 1:42 p.m., in reference to an incident. The incident was cleared.

Deputies were dispatched to HWY 80 near Mineola, at approximately 4:07 p.m., in reference to an incident. A Criminal Trespass Warning was issued and the scene was cleared.

Deputies were dispatched to CR 2245 near Mineola, at approximately 9:00 p.m., in reference to criminal trespass. This case is active.

Deputies were dispatched to FM 778/CR 2180 near Quitman, at approximately 10:23 p.m., in reference to a noise complaint. Deputies located the individuals and advised them to lower the volume of their music.

October 8th

Deputies were dispatched to HWY 154/FM 514 near Yantis, at approximately 12:48 a.m., in reference to criminal mischief. Actors, or actors unknown, damaged the reporting party’s vehicle. This case has been forwarded to investigators.

Deputies responded to a suspicious person on CR 2310 near Mineola; at approximately 1:54 a.m. Deputies searched the area, but were unable to locate the individual.

Deputies responded to a suspicious vehicle on CR 2266 near Mineola; at approximately 10:58 a.m. Deputies ran the license plate and it came back stolen. This case has been forwarded to other agency.

Deputies were dispatched to Cheyenne near Quitman, at approximately 1:30 p.m., in reference to a disturbance. Criminal Trespass Warnings were issued and the parties were separated.

Deputies were dispatched to CR 3954 near Mineola, at approximately 2:06 p.m., in reference to theft. Actors, or actors unknown, stole a stock trailer from the reporting party’s property. This case has been forwarded to investigators.

Deputies spoke with the reporting party, at approximately 2:37 p.m., in reference to a burglary that occurred on CR 1418 near Quitman. Actors, or actors unknown, stole a television out of the reporting party’s residence. This case has been forwarded to investigators.

At 4:58 p.m., cows were reported out on HWY 80/FM 1804.

At 6:03 p.m., cows were reported out on HWY 80/FM 1804.

Deputies were dispatched to CR 2117 near Quitman, at approximately 7:15 p.m., in reference to an inquest. A male, 50, was found deceased in his residence. The Justice of the Peace arrived and ordered an autopsy. This case has been forwarded to investigators.

Deputies responded to a suspicious person on HWY 69 near Alba; at approximately 8:30 p.m. Rodney White, 55, of Gladewater, was arrested for Public Intoxication.

Deputies were dispatched to HWY 37 near Mineola, at approximately 8:47 p.m., in reference to an alarm. Deputies checked the building and it was secure.

October 9th

Deputies responded to a suspicious person on CR 2906 near Mineola; at approximately 1:10 a.m. Deputies searched the area, but were unable to locate the individual.

Deputies were dispatched to FM 515 near Yantis, at approximately 9:59 a.m., in reference to an alarm. Deputies checked the building and it was secure.

At 10:32 a.m., cows were reported out on HWY 37 near Quitman.

Deputies were dispatched to FM 1795 near Hawkins, at approximately 12:15 p.m., in reference to an abandoned vehicle. Deputies located the vehicle and cleared the scene.

Deputies were dispatched to CR 2210 near Mineola, at approximately 1:32 p.m., in reference to a welfare check. Deputies located the individual and everything was OK.

Deputies went out on an Arrest/Warrant Service to Cheyenne near Quitman; at approximately 3:22 p.m. Deputies searched the area, but were unable to make contact with the individual.

Deputies spoke with the reporting party, at approximately 3:39 p.m., in reference to fraud that occurred on HWY 11 near Leesburg. A known actor was using the reporting party’s bank account without authorization. This case has been forwarded to investigators.

Deputies were dispatched to HWY 154 near Quitman, at approximately 6:41 p.m., in reference to an alarm. Deputies checked the building and it was secure.

At 6:44 p.m., cows were reported out on CR 4960/CR 4930.

Deputies went out on an Arrest/Warrant Service to FM 17 near Alba; at approximately 8:19 p.m. James Davis, 37, of Alba, was arrested for an outstanding warrant.

At 9:15 p.m., cows were reported out on HWY 154 near Quitman.

October 10th

At 6:13 a.m., cows were reported out on FM 2088 near Quitman.

Deputies responded to a suspicious vehicle on CR 2768 near Mineola; at approximately 6:36 a.m. The vehicle left, prior to deputies’ arrival.

At 7:31 a.m., cows were reported out on FM 2088 near Winnsboro.

At 10:15 a.m., cows were reported out on HWY 154 near Quitman.

Deputies responded to a suspicious vehicle on CR 1895 near Yantis; at approximately 12:16 p.m. The vehicle left, prior to the deputies’ arrival.

At 1:09 p.m., cows were reported out on CR 1460 near Quitman.

Deputies were dispatched to CR 4529 near Winnsboro, at approximately 4:41 p.m., in reference to criminal trespass. Deputies searched the area, but were unable to locate the known actor.

At 5:14 p.m., cows were reported out on CR 2745 near Mineola.

Deputies were dispatched to CR 2268 near Mineola, at approximately 9:21 p.m., in reference to a disturbance. Upon arrival, deputies were advised there was no incident. The scene was cleared.

 

Between the dates of October 4th and October 10th, Wood County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to multiple agency assists that included the following: Police Departments, Emergency Medical Services, Child Protective Services, and Smith County.

Total Jail Count – 146 inmates – 124 males and 22 females.
