Wood County Sheriff’s Report

February 27, 2019 to March 5, 2019

February 27th

Deputies responded to a suspicious vehicle on CR 1681 near Alba; at approximately 12:21 a.m. Deputies searched the area, but were unable to locate the vehicle.

Deputies were dispatched to HWY 37 near Mineola, at approximately 1:04 a.m., in reference to a welfare check. Deputies located the individual and everything was OK.

Deputies went out on an arrest/warrant service to Evans St. in Mineola; at approximately 1:27 a.m. Deputies searched the area, but were unable to make contact with the individual.

Deputies were dispatched to CR 3810 near Hawkins, at approximately 7:49 a.m., in reference to suspicious circumstances. Deputies located the suspicious activity and everything was OK.

At 8:35 a.m., cows were reported out on CR 3940 near Mineola.

Deputies spoke with the reporting party, at approximately 11:11 a.m., in reference to a scam that occurred on FM 2869 near Winnsboro. This case has been forwarded to investigators.

At 12:02 p.m., cows were reported out on CR 1912 near Yantis.

At 1:54 p.m., horses were reported out on CR 4460 near Winnsboro.

Deputies spoke with the reporting party, at approximately 2:57 p.m., in reference to harassment on CR 2263 near Mineola. Deputies gave the reporting party advice and cleared the incident.

Deputies were dispatched to Kickapoo near Quitman, at approximately 5:32 p.m., in reference to terroristic threat. Deputies spoke with all parties involved and cleared the incident.

At 5:42 p.m., cows were reported out on CR 1906 near Yantis.

Deputies were dispatched to CR 2298 near Mineola, at approximately 7:57 p.m., in reference to a welfare check. Deputies searched the area, but were unable to locate the individual.

Deputies were dispatched to PR 6394 near Alba, at approximately 11:05 p.m., in reference to a disturbance. Jaxson Lane, 19, of Edgewood, was arrested for Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.

Deputies were dispatched to CR 4645 near Winnsboro, at approximately 11:33 p.m., in reference to a burglary. Actors, or actors unknown, stole several items from the reporting party’s residence. This case has been forwarded to investigators.

February 28th

Deputies were dispatched to CR 3978 near Winnsboro, at approximately 2:54 a.m., in reference to an alarm. Deputies checked the building and it was secure.

At 7:31 a.m., cows were reported out on FM 2966 near Yantis.

At 2:18 p.m., cows were reported out on HWY 154 near Yantis.

Deputies spoke with the reporting party, at approximately 3:09 p.m., in reference to a scam that occurred on CR 2425 near Mineola. Deputies gave the reporting party advice and cleared the incident.

Deputies spoke with the reporting party, at approximately 5:29 p.m., in reference to a possible burglary on CR 2263 near Mineola. Deputies advised the reporting party that extra patrol would be provided.

Deputies were dispatched to FM 515 near Yantis, at approximately 7:58 p.m., in reference to a reckless driver. Deputies searched the area, but were unable to locate the vehicle.

March 1st

At 11:04 a.m., cows were reported out on FM 2225 near Quitman.

At 12:29 p.m., cows were reported out on CR 4730 near Winnsboro.

Deputies were dispatched to FM 14 near Hawkins, at approximately 12:44 p.m., in reference to criminal trespass. Prior to the deputies’ arrival, the individual left the scene.

Deputies were dispatched to Indian Gap near Quitman, at approximately 3:13 p.m., in reference to a dispute. Deputies spoke with all parties involved and cleared the incident.

Deputies were dispatched to CR 2298 near Mineola, at approximately 6:38 p.m., in reference to a an assault that occurred. This case has been forwarded to investigators.

Deputies conducted a traffic stop on FM 779 near Alba; at approximately 8:36 p.m. Robert Hodgson, 42, of Quitman, was arrested for Manufacture Delivery of a Controlled Substance and Tamper Fabricate Physical Evidence with Intent to Impair.

Deputies responded to a suspicious vehicle on HWY 69 near Alba; at approximately 11:38 p.m. Deputies located the vehicle and everything was OK.

March 2nd

At 10:34 a.m., cows were reported out on HWY 37 near Quitman.

Deputies spoke with the reporting party, at approximately 10:59 a.m., in reference to theft that occurred on HWY 80 near Hawkins. Deputies gave the reporting party advice and cleared the incident.

Deputies were dispatched to FM 515 near Yantis, at approximately 11:03 a.m., in reference to theft. Actors, or actors unknown, stole a sign from the reporting party’s property.

At 11:57 a.m., cows were reported out on FM 69 near Mineola.

At 2:17 p.m., cows were reported out on HWY 154 near Yantis.

Deputies went out on an arrest/warrant service to CR 3226 near Quitman; at approximately 2:37 p.m. Deputies searched the area, but were unable to make contact with the individual.

Deputies were dispatched to CR 4740 near Winnsboro, at approximately 3:39 p.m., in reference to a disturbance. Justin Gillis, 31, of Winnsboro, was arrested for Assault Causes Bodily Injury Family Violence and Possession of a Controlled Substance.

At 6:59 p.m., cows were reported out on FM 1643 near Winnsboro.

Deputies were dispatched to CR 2840 near Mineola, at approximately 10:19 p.m., in reference to shots fired. Deputies made contact with the individuals and cleared the incident.

March 3rd

Deputies responded to a suspicious person on HWY 80 near Hawkins; at approximately 2:38 a.m. Triston Salter, 19, of Hawkins, was arrested for Unlawful Possession of a Firearm by Felon and Public Intoxication.

Deputies responded to a suspicious vehicle on FM 515 near Yantis; at approximately 2:39 a.m. Deputies located the vehicle and everything was OK.

At 7:37 a.m., horses were reported out on HWY 37 near Quitman.

Deputies were dispatched to CR 1210 near Quitman, at approximately 7:48 a.m., in reference to an alarm. Deputies checked the building and it was secure.

Deputies responded to a suspicious vehicle on PR 7943 near Hawkins; at approximately 7:53 a.m. Deputies located the vehicle and everything was OK.

Deputies were dispatched to FM 852 near Winnsboro, at approximately 10:54 a.m., in reference to an assault that occurred. This case has been forwarded to investigators.

At 11:20 a.m., cows were reported out on HWY 154 near Yantis.

Deputies were dispatched to FM 69 near Quitman, at approximately 2:50 p.m., in reference to criminal mischief. Actors, or actors unknown, damaged the reporting party’s property. This case is active.

Deputies were dispatched to CR 2430 near Mineola, at approximately 3:41 p.m., in reference to an unauthorized use of a motor vehicle. A known actor took the reporting party’s vehicle without consent. This case has been forwarded to investigators.

Deputies were dispatched to HWY 80 near Hawkins, at approximately 6:24 p.m., in reference to a disturbance. Deputies spoke with all parties involved and cleared the incident.

Deputies were dispatched to FM 515 near Alba, at approximately 8:42 p.m., in reference to an alarm. Deputies checked the building and it was secure.

At 9:51 p.m., cows were reported out on CR 4165 near Quitman.

Deputies were dispatched to FM 515 near Alba, at approximately 9:51 p.m., in reference to an alarm. Deputies checked the building and it was secure.

Deputies conducted a traffic stop on FM 2659 near Hawkins; at approximately 10:35 p.m. Bobbie Wagner, 37, of Gilmer, was arrested for Possession of a Controlled Substance Penalty Group 3, Possession of a Controlled Substance Penalty Group 1 and Tamper Fabricate Physical Evidence with Intent to Impair.

March 4th

Deputies were dispatched to CR 2437 near Mineola, at approximately 3:12 a.m., in reference to an alarm. Deputies checked the building and it was secure.

At 7:49 a.m., cows were reported out on FM 778 near Quitman.

Deputies spoke with the reporting party, at approximately 10:21 a.m., in reference to a possible theft on FM 17 near Alba. Deputies gave the reporting party advice and cleared the incident.

Deputies spoke with the reporting party, at approximately 10:53 a.m., in reference to criminal mischief on CR 2951 near Mineola. Actors, or actors unknown, damaged the reporting party’s property. This case is active.

At 12:06 p.m., cows were reported out on FM 14 near Hawkins.

At 3:13 p.m., horses were reported out on CR 2180 near Quitman.

At 4:11 p.m., cows were reported out on FM 2225 near Quitman.

Deputies spoke with the reporting party, at approximately 6:01 p.m., in reference to suspicious circumstances on CR 4740 near Winnsboro. Deputies advised the reporting party that extra patrol would be provided.

Deputies went out on an arrest/warrant service to HWY 69 near Alba; at approximately 10:55 p.m. Deputies searched the area, but were unable to make contact with the individual.

March 5th

Deputies responded to a suspicious vehicle on HWY 37 near Quitman; at approximately 4:41 a.m. Deputies located the vehicle and everything was OK.

Deputies were dispatched to Holly Hill Circle near Hawkins, at approximately 8:20 a.m., in reference to a disturbance where an assault occurred. This case has been forwarded to investigators.

At 8:45 a.m., horses were reported out on CR 1880 near Yantis.

At 9:53 a.m., cows were reported out on FM 2225 near Yantis.

Deputies spoke with the reporting party, at approximately 11:03 a.m., in reference to fraud that occurred on CR 1660 near Alba. This case has been forwarded to investigators.

At 1:26 p.m., cows were reported out on FM 14 near Hawkins.

Deputies spoke with the reporting party, at approximately 1:58 p.m., in reference to forgery that occurred on CR 4568 near Winnsboro. This case has been forwarded to investigators.

At 2:54 p.m., cows were reported out on FM 2225 near Quitman.

At 3:43 p.m., cows were reported out on FM 1643 near Winnsboro.

Deputies were dispatched to HWY 80 near Hawkins, at approximately 10:41 p.m., in reference to disorderly conduct. Deputies spoke with all parties involved and cleared the incident.

Between the dates of February 27 and March 5, Wood County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to multiple agency assists that included the following: Child Protective Services, Mineola Police Department and Quitman Police Department.

Total Jail Count – 120 inmates – 97 males and 23 females.
